DNR seeks comments on EAW for Lake Superior – Poplar River Water District Project

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking public comments on an environmental assessment worksheet (EAW) that was prepared for a project to create a public rural water district and the construction of a water pipeline and water appropriation from Lake Superior to provide potable and raw water to residential, commercial, and government customers within the district.

The EAW was published in the June 11, EQB Monitor. Public comments on the EAW will be accepted during the 30-day public review period, which runs through 4:30 p.m. on July 11. Written comments on the EAW must be submitted to: Randall Doneen, EAW project manager, DNR Ecological Resources Division, 500 Lafayette Road, St. Paul, MN 55155-4025.

Electronic or email comments may be sent toenvironmentalrev.dnr@state.mn.us with “Poplar River Water District EAW” in the subject line.

People should include a name and mailing address if they submit comments electronically.

Written comments may also be sent by fax to 651-297-1500.

A copy of the EAW is available online on the DNR website.  Additional copies may be requested by calling 651-259-5156.
